You will be joining a team of highly trained and dedicated men and women. We are recognized as a combat ready, can-do squadron that is well respected by both military and local civilian communities. The standards we set for ourselves are quite high and your professional and physical readiness will be an integral part of VAQ-132. Your sponsor, along with this website, should be able to answer any questions you may have regarding your transfer to VAQ-132 and getting to Naval Air Station Whidbey Island. Getting to NASWI
Information regarding shuttle service from SeaTac Airport to NAS Whidbey Island can be found at the Ground Transportation counter on the baggage claim level of SeaTac airport or you can view the Official SeaTac Shuttle website. You will be reimbursed for transportation expenses provided you keep your receipts. If you are driving, please contact your sponsor for more information. Location
The squadron is located in beautiful Oak Harbor, Washington on board Naval Air Station Whidbey Island. VAQ-132 is housed in Hanger 8 (Bldg 2642), on board NAS Whidbey Island. Hangar 8 is directly behind Fleet Readiness Center Northwest on Midway St. From the Langley gate, drive to the top of the hill and take a right onto Midway St, at the bottom of Midway St go straight through the stop sign and follow the left bend at the end of the road which will lead you onto Ranger St. The hanger to the right is Hanger 8. Access to the flight line and hangar is restricted and requires an access badge. Flight line access badges are issued at the Pass and Decal office located outside Langley gate during normal business hours (0730 - 1530). If you are checking-in after 1700 or on the weekend you may report in appropriate civilian attire or your working uniform to the Squadron Duty Office. Housing
Applications for housing are unable to be accepted in advance as personnel must detach from previous commands prior to being placed on the housing waiting list. For specific information about Navy housing here on Whidbey Island, contact the Housing Office at (800)876-7022 or (360)257-3331 M-F 0730-1600. Be advised, there is minimal geo-bachelor billeting available at NAS Whidbey Island, through a geo-bachelor request form. Billeting for single Sailors (E4 and Below) is arranged at Navy Gateway Inns and Suites (Bldg 973, McCormick Lodge). Upon arrival, check-in at the front desk of the McCormick Lodge to receive a room assignment in the Unaccompanied (Bachelor) Housing. Sailors authorized BAH (married/E5 and above) may make temporary lodging arrangements at the Navy Gateway Inns and Suites, Navy Lodge, or at a local hotel.
